Ayyappa Seva Sangham
In the 1970’s there was an increase in the Indian immigrant population. During those days, they did not have a place here, to assemble and pray, like we do in India. Even though the Hindu Temple Society in Flushing was established in 1977, Ayyappa devotees still felt a vacuum. Finally, in 1991, Ayyappa Seva Sangham was formed to take in to consideration the wishes of the growing number of devotees.
The primary goal of the Ayyappa Seva Sangham was since then set as building an Ayyappa temple. Yet another goal was to bring together all Ayyappa devotees from all parts of India especially from Kerala, Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
Towards achieving this goal, we did a great deal of work. We supported the Hindu Temple at Flushing, during its difficult years of renovation. Ayyappa Seva Sangham supported the temple morally as well as financially. After renovation, the temple provided a Sannidhaanam. But our goal of building an Ayyappa temple still prevails. In fact, the goal has been revitalized.
On May 22nd, 2010 Ayyappa Seva Sangham organized a classical music concert by Sri Sankaran Namboodiri. On October 10th, 2010 a new fundraising project was initiated.
